Edmonton has some fantastic restaurants, and it seems every month there's a new culinary gem opening its doors to Edmontonians and its visitors. Whether you're a fan of dining out or prefer the comfort of takeout, making a healthy choice doesn't mean sacrificing flavour or convenience.

Our Edmonton Dietitians have handpicked a selection of healthy options from some of the city's top healthy restaurants, ensuring you can enjoy delicious, nutritious meals anytime! We've curated a list that not only satisfies your taste buds but also aligns with a wholesome lifestyle.

What restaurants did we skip? We focused on establishments offering more than three healthy dish options, ensuring variety and quality. Not all healthy-looking options are as nutritious as they seem. Also, we've only included places that offer delivery or takeout, bringing healthy choices right to your doorstep.

Let’s dive into Edmonton's healthiest and most delicious dining options!

Edmonton’s Best Healthy Restaurants

1. Kb & Co.

A personal favourite, Kb & Co. has been a standout in downtown Edmonton since its opening in 2016. Specializing in casual plant-based fare, their menu includes all-day breakfast, smoothies, nourishing bowls, wraps, and sandwiches. Their vibrant, veggie-loaded dishes are a feast for both the eyes and the palate. With multiple locations around the city, ordering takeout is a breeze.

Our top dish recommendations? Don't miss out on the Twisted Tabbouleh Wrap and the Sweet Superfood Grain Bowl. Both are brimming with greens, seeds, quinoa, plant-based protein, and an abundance of fibre. It's not just a meal; it's a celebration of taste and health that your gut will thank you for!

2. Cafe Mosaics

Cafe Mosaics, known for its predominantly plant-based menu, has recently broadened its offerings to include free-range eggs and cheese options. This eatery is committed to using fresh, whole foods and organic tonic herbs, making it a standout on our list.

Whether you choose to dine in or opt for pick-up, you're in for a treat. Be sure to try their Falafel Bowl and Thai Curry Pho – each dish brings delightful flavours and nourishing goodness.

3. The Moth Cafe

The Moth Cafe is not just a vegan restaurant; it's a local favourite among Edmontonians for its creative and delicious plant-based meals. They offer both comfortable dine-in and convenient pick-up options. Whether you're a long-time vegan or just exploring plant-based options, The Moth Cafe has some delicious food options and delicious tea lattes.

One of the highlights is their unique vegan Omelette, which is a delightful surprise made from beans and topped with a rich, flavourful cashew hollandaise sauce. It's a must-try for anyone who loves a hearty, vegan-friendly breakfast.

4. OEB Breakfast Co

OEB Breakfast Co is a haven for Edmonton's early birds, serving up breakfast and brunch that's sure to start your day right. With several locations across Edmonton and the convenience of both takeout and delivery, it's our top pick for morning meals.

Our recommendation? The Laks, a three-egg omelette topped with smoked salmon for a high-protein kick that will keep you satisfied for hours. This dish is served with potatoes, toast, and fruit. For a healthier twist, opt to double up on the fruit and select either toast or potatoes.

5. Freshhi

Freshii, a well known chain, stands out for its fresh flavours and veggie-packed bowls and salads. One thing that sets Freshii apart is their transparency with nutrition facts, conveniently displayed on their website. This way, you know precisely what you're getting with each order.

Our personal favourite? The Chicken Tikka. And the best part? They offer both takeout and delivery options, making it easy to enjoy their wholesome meals on the go.

6. Chopped leaf

Chopped Leaf is another popular chain that has made it onto our list, renowned for its inclusive menu that caters to various dietary preferences, including gluten-free options. The highlight at Chopped Leaf is undoubtedly the option to create your own salads, bowls, or wraps, thanks to their fully customizable menu. This allows you to tailor your meal exactly to your tastes and nutritional needs.

Our top pick from their menu is the Bangkok Salad. On its own, it packs a healthy 12 grams of protein. We love adding an extra protein like chicken, boosting it to a hearty 26 grams.
